Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Survival Equipment Fitter to be based at our site, RNAS Yeovilton located in Somerset. This role is responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and defect rectification of Survival Equipment (SE) to meet the requirements of a busy operational Air Station.


Serco are proud to support the Fleet Air Arm, including the Commando Helicopter Force and Wildcat Maritime Force based at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, delivering services ranging from the repair and maintenance of military aircraft- to fuel delivery and off aircraft support services. Yeovilton is one of the Royal Navy`s two principal air stations, is one of the busiest military airfields in the UK and home to more than 100 aircraft. 


Main Accountabilities:

 

 

  • Working within the Survival Equipment section, this role will focus upon the Maintenance, Modification and Rectification of Survival equipment and AEA which would include- Life rafts, Life Preservers, Survival packs, Aircrew helmets and Immersion protection garments.
  • All employees are to comply with:

  • Monitoring hazards and ensuring risks and issues are identified and quantified.
  • They participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and associated programmes when required.
  • To remain flexible and carry out any other tasks within their capabilities and experience in support of the Contract as directed by the Contract Manager or their representative.

 

What you’ll need to do the role:

 

  • You will be expected to have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the Armed Forces or industry, in conducting the maintenance, servicing and defect rectification and issue of Survival Equipment (SE).
  • Experience working on Life Rafts, Life Jackets and Survival Packs.
  • The ability to understand and work to technical manuals, completing documentation in accordance with the MAM-P. 
  • Be familiar with regulatory requirements, appropriate MoD legislation and local Serco and RNAS Yeovilton processes and procedures.
  • Be familiar with the importance of tool control and the issue of fuels and lubricants.
  • Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
  • Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to achieve MoD Security Clearance.
  • Excellent Time Management and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • An excellent capability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.
