HMP Dovegate, Staffordshire

Full Time, Permanent

£52,212 pa + Corporate Company Benefits


HMP Dovegate is a Category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. The operational capacity is for 1100 prisoners who are serving a range of sentences including; trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving up to life in prison.


The Therapeutic Community (TC) is a purpose built 200 bed facility with four 40 bed Communities, a 20 bed Induction Unit and a 20 bed TC+ for those with learning disabilities/low IQ. The TC is a long term, accredited intervention aimed at reducing risk related to offending.


All aspects of life on the community are designed to enable personal growth and are open for discussion. A Democratic TC which means that all members of the community (staff and prisoners) have a say in the running of the community and are involved in the decision making for their community.


Here at Serco we’re looking for an experience Senior Forensic Psychologist to join the Venture Clinical Team where you will be responsible for the management of the psychology function within the TC and Induction Unit as well as the overall quality of delivery of the TC model/ intervention this includes delivering forensic clinical work.


You will possess excellent management and mentoring skills and work closely with the Clinical Director to devise strategies and plans for the clinical department according to company standards for excellent service and growth. A key component of this role is to ensure that the clinical work is delivered in a manner compliant with HMPPS requirements.


What you’ll need to do the role


First and foremost, you will have experience of working as a Senior Forensic psychologist at a senior level in a Therapeutic Community setting, experience of leading teams including performance management.


You will have worked with offenders carrying out assessments and interventions with a forensic population alongside significant experience of supervising Forensic Psychologists in Training on the BPS route.


Your natural desire to want to work collaboratively with offenders and experience of working with those with personality disorders will add value to the team and our offenders’ journeys.


You must be Registered with HCPC and Chartered with BPS, PCL-r certification, on the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors with the BPS (RAPPS), trained in WAIS, IPDE, HCR-20. Required to register with BPC as a Forensic Psychotherapist.
