Sessional Forensic Psychologist

Working across all of our Prison Sites

£73.45 p/h inclusive of holiday pay


Here at Serco we’re looking for an experienced Forensic Psychologist to join on a sessional basis working with the Head of Custodial Psychological Services. Joining our onsite Psychological Services teams, you’ll play a key part in administering the delivery of Psychological Services as required across all our prisons. For example:


  • Undertake any relevant psychological assessments of prisoners that contribute to the safer custody of residents
  • Supervise Forensic Psychologists in Training
  • Make decisions regarding the suitability of candidates for accredited interventions
  • Help develop the work of Psychological Services, for example through assessments and group or individual interventions


This is a role that offers variety and contributes enormously to the important work of reintegrating offenders back into society. It is a very flexible role in that can work around you. The assignments will be offered to all our sessional Psychologists and it is your decision what you can commit to.



What you’ll need to do the role


First and foremost, you will have experience of working in prisons and with carrying out assessments and interventions with a forensic population. We’d also like you to hold:


  • HCPC registration
  • Chartered with the BPS as a Forensic Psychologist


You’ll have knowledge in psychological theory regarding treatment of violent and sexual offending, and be familiar with academic literature and of a range of psychological treatment approaches.


You will be comfortable completing parole reports and carrying out assessments such as WAIS, HCR-20, PCL-r, IPDE, RSVP, you’ll also be able to work in a multi-disciplinary way and bring a collaborative approach to your work with your team and with the residents.
