HMP Dovegate | £28,000 - £30,000 | Education & Rehabilitation
Are you a proactive, organised, and detail-driven administrator looking to do meaningful work? HMP Dovegate is seeking a Distance Learning Coordinator to coordinate and support our vital education programmes—helping prisoners develop valuable skills and transform their futures.
About HMP Dovegate
Operated by Serco, HMP Dovegate is a Category B male prison housing up to 1,060 prisoners. It’s home to the UK’s only privately run, purpose-built therapeutic prison. Education plays a critical role in rehabilitation here—and our Distance Learning programme is central to that mission.
What You’ll Be Doing

- Track Learner Progress: Maintain accurate records, monitor performance data, and report on retention, achievement, and completion rates.
- Support Learners: Provide prisoners with access to course materials, guidance, and encouragement to help them succeed in their studies.
- Liaise Effectively: Serve as the key link between students, tutors, the Library Team, and external education providers such as universities.
- Manage IT Facilities: Ensure the Distance Learning Classroom is fully functional, with up-to-date digital resources and secure access to learning platforms.
- Ensure Continuity: Support learners transferring to other institutions or being released, helping them continue their education seamlessly.
What We’re Looking For
- Experienced Administrator: Proven track record in a busy administrative role, with strong skills in record-keeping, scheduling, and communication.
- Excellent Organiser: Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure with precision and efficiency.
- Strong Communicator: Confident liaising with diverse stakeholders—from academic institutions to prison staff and learners.
- Detail-Oriented: Skilled in maintaining accurate, confidential data and handling education records responsibly.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using IT systems, databases, and online learning tools to manage student progress and resources.
- Customer-Facing Confidence: You’ll act as the key point of contact between the university and the learner, ensuring smooth communication and support.
