Teacher (Industrial Cleaning)

HMP Lowdham Grange, Nottinghamshire

Full Time, Permanent

£26,500 - £28,000 per annum + Great Corporate Benefits Package


HMP Lowdham Grange is a Category B establishment for adult males, with safety and security at the heart of it. As our Industrial Cleaning Teacher you’ll be part of an onsite team delivering education to residents that increases employability, reduces the likelihood of reoffending and prepares prisoners for a successful return to the community.

Working with the Head of Learning and Skills you’ll develop, administer and deliver all aspects of your specialist subject for varying levels and in line with the core curriculum and awarding body specification(s). This will include preparing individual lesson plans, planning learning activities, teaching in class lessons (up to 3 hours in duration), evaluating work and giving feedback.

So you’ll work alongside supportive colleagues who are passionate about the work we do, you’ll also receive ongoing training and development plus a competitive benefits package.


What you’ll need to do the role


First and foremost, you will need to demonstrate the capability and experience to deliver all aspects of your specialist subject and are able to teach at varying levels. You will need to hold, as a minimum, Level 4 Award in Education in Training (QCF) or Level 4 – subject specialism, with recent experience of teaching.


As with any teaching job you’ll need strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills but you’ll also need to be comfortable with the security aspects the role requires – such as rub down searching of prisoners.
