Our vessels provide a range of support, which include for example: dive support, military training, submarine rescue exercises, target/test equipment deployment/recovery and passenger transfers.  
We have an opening for an Able Seafarer/Crane Operator to join our existing team and serve aboard an RFA vessel in support of an exciting project. The purpose of the role is to act as the main force of labour on your appointed Vessel.

 

Main Accountabilities

 

  • Experience in Subsea/Offshore heavy crane lifts as qualified crane operator
  • Manage crane program administration onboard vessel
  • Responsible for maintenance and certification of lifting gear and lifting gear inventory
  • Generate, review, and endorse routine and critical lifting plans
  • Assist in development of critical lift plans
  • Audit and manage contractor lifts for vessel compliance
  • Review and update database of generic and critical lift plans
  • Provide leadership to the deck crew alongside direction of the Bosun to build confidence in skill sets
  • Manage deck ratings for the purpose of lifting operations and system maintenance
  • Responsible for crane training to the required standard and assessed as competent to undertake specific duties
  • Maintain required SQEP for deck crew to build longevity in skill set
  • Maintain high standards of work ethic and lead by example
  • Berthing/Slipping of the Vessel.
  • Ship Husbandry /Operational Task
  • Cleaning Tasks as directed.
  • Drive/operate deck machinery including cranes
  • Assist in repair and routine planned maintenance of ship’s equipment
  • Machinery care, routine maintenance, and lubrication
  • To be fully conversant with the use of all safety equipment, emergency procedures and contingency plans.
  • Aware of the company Safety Management System- specifically:

o Permit to Work/Tag Out Systems

o Shipboard Management Team

o Shipboard Safety Committee

  • Be familiar with safety routines and ensure necessary safeguards are in place before any maintenance/repair work commences.

  • MCA Certificate of Competency as an Able Seafarer
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Elementary First Aid
  • Unrestricted ENG1
  • Offshore Crane operator, stages 1,2 or 3 Preferred
  • Passport
  • Methodical in approach
  • Good standard of education
