Internal Auditor – HMP Doncaster

Salary: £17,110 (Full-time 40 Hrs, Permanent)

 

The Job Opportunity:

 

Reporting to the Contract Services Manager, your role will be to support the Contract Services Manager by ensuring effective auditing and administrative support for audit and contract services systems is in place and practiced. You will be required to carry out internal audits as part of contractual obligations and ISO Quality Management System (QMS) accreditations, including related auditing of Police National Computer (PNC) approved use.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Audit each areas of the prison against contractual requirements in accordance with the Audit and assurance programme agreed with the Director and maintaining records of their completion.
  • Ensure the prison is audited to ISO standards, ensuring compliance with ISO clause requirements in auditing – specifically auditing to 9001 and 27001 standard
  • Review all audit worksheets against PSIs, Policy Frameworks, local operating procedures (formerly Director’s Rules), & LSS amendments to ensure the most up to date policy is effectively referenced in worksheets used
  • Document audit findings on approved audit worksheets, raise action plans, discuss and confirm the findings with the Contract Services Manager and submitting them for quality assessment (QA) to the Contract Services Manager
  • Issue action plans and monitor their progress in accordance with the Internal Audit procedures.
  • Prepare and carry out re-audits of non-compliant elements of initial audits, document and report the findings to the Contract Services Manager
  • Conduct follow up compliance work around external audit action plans, including HMIP and ISO 27001, as directed
  • Provide administrative support to this function in wider contract services, including performance reporting, maintenance of local operating procedures and form management as part of ISO Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Undertake audits of PNC use to ensure appropriate levels of access have been maintained by registered users, reporting finding and submitting them for quality assessment (QA) to the Contract Services Manager
  • Undertake PNOMIS Local Systems Administrator role (one of several) to provide staff with PNOMIS account accesses and/or account unlocks.
  • Undertake Police National Computer (PNC) administrator and auditor training to undertake weekly PNC audits and provide account administration

 

Essential technical and professional skills:

 

  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good general knowledge of safety, quality and fire safety systems.
  • Analytical approach, capable of attention to detail. 
  • Good written and verbal interpersonal skills to liaise and influence internal and external stakeholders.

 

Preferred technical and professional skills:

 

  • A relevant auditing qualification, particularly ISO Lead Auditor and/or internal IMS Auditor
  • Yellow Belt Trained or commitment to work towards Yellow Belt certification.
