Our Health Services team provides primary care based on a patient-centred model allowing patients to actively participate in their health management. The team works closely with correctional staff to deliver holistic and integrated patient-centred health services that:


  • Treat and prevent communicable disease, and proactively treat chronic disease
  • Educate custodial patients on healthy living and lifestyle choices
  • Assist with reintegration back into the community and provide continuity of care
  • Address the diverse needs of the custodial patient population, including men, women and culturally and linguistically diverse peoples through specific tailoring.


To help us make a difference, you will need: 

  • To hold a current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse, with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 
  • Experience in a primary health or acute setting as part of a formal post graduate program or two years full time equivalent experience without a formal post graduate program 
  • To hold current competencies in, or a demonstrated ability to work towards a range of clinical skills in the correctional environment including (but not limited to) intravenous cannulation; phlebotomy; simple suturing; application of a back slab; advanced resuscitation.  
  • Recognition as a Nurse Immuniser in NSW or a willingness to work towards same would be highly favourable 
  • Well-developed written, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to adapt communication appropriately 
  • Self-management, motivation and resilience abilities essential to working in a complex environment  
  • Cultural awareness including understanding the impact and management and working with people of different ethnic backgrounds, customs and contemporary issues 
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour

  • Total Remuneration package ranging from $114,000 pa (1-3 years exp.) to $118,800 pa (4+ years exp.). Total Remuneration Package is inclusive of penalties, allowances, loadings and superannuation
  • Sign on payment @ $12,000 gross, subject to conditions
  • Up to $5,000 relocation assistance (non-cash out benefit) in accordance with policy

  • Six (6) weeks annual leave for shift workers
  • Ten (10) days personal/careers leave
  • Two (2) days volunteer leave each year, to support community and social causes
