This is an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for experienced Registered a Nurses to express interest in joining the Health Services team  at the new state-of-the-art Correctional Centre in Grafton.

You will have the opportunity to fully utilise your skills and experience and be part of the delivery of timely holistic care according to scope of practice within a correctional health setting.

 

The Clarence Correctional Centre is a 1700 bed facility making it the largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre in Australia. About You
We are looking for experienced Registered  Nurses with the highest level of personal integrity who demonstrates Serco’s values and is passionate about making a positive difference every day.

You will have a demonstrated ability to provide the highest quality medical services within a multidisciplinary Health Services team comprising of doctors, nurses and specialist service providers. As a patient-focused health professional you will be passionate about contributing to a safer community through the delivery of accessible, effective, and high-quality continuity of health services to those in our care.

You also have strong communication skills and are respectful with a commitment and passion for our values and contributing to a safe and respectful environment.

About the Opportunity
Our Health Services team provide primary care based on a patient-centred model allowing patients to actively participate in their health management. The team will work closely with correctional staff to deliver holistic and integrated patient-centred health services that:

  • treat and prevent communicable disease, and proactively treat chronic disease;
  • educate custodial patients on healthy living and lifestyle choices;
  • assist with reintegration back into the community and provide continuity of care; and
  • address the diverse needs of the custodial patient population, including men, women and culturally and linguistically diverse peoples through specific tailoring.

Reporting to the Clinical Team Leader, you will provide comprehensive and sustainable primary, acute and emergency health care to patients in our correctional environment.
 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Hold a current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered or Enrolled Nurse, with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Experience in a primary health or acute setting as part of a formal post graduate program or two years full time equivalent experience without a formal post graduate program
  • Recognition as a Nurse Immuniser in NSW or a willingness to work towards same would be highly favourable
  • Well developed written, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to adapt communication appropriately
  • Self-management, motivation and resilience abilities essential to working in a complex environment
  • Cultural awareness including understanding the impact and management and working with people of different ethnic backgrounds, customs and contemporary issues
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
