This is an exciting career opportunity for you as a Senior Psychologist to join our new, state-of-the art correctional centre with access to the latest technology.  You will thrive on overseeing the provision of assessment and intervention services to address the risks and needs of inmates, supporting their ongoing management and successful reintegration into the community. You will bring an aptitude for leadership and ability in the professional supervision of psychologists.

Our Rehabilitation and Reintegration team provides a range of programs aimed to reduce reoffending and support the successful transition of inmates back into the community.  As a key member of this team and working closely with correctional, industries and health services teams, you will:

  • Develop policies and procedures relating to psychology services offenders
  • Provide regular individual and/or group supervision for Psychologists and Program Delivery Officers
  • Provide direct psychological service delivery where appropriate in complex cases
  • Ensure documentation standards are met, risk intervention is conducted, and negotiate service provisions and appropriate role boundaries for the team.

You will also prepare psychological assessments and reports to relevant boards, services and agencies and assist the relevant managers with the IMP review process.

To help us make a difference, you will need:

  • Current registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Post-graduate qualification at Masters level or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or relevant disciplines
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Certificate IV in Correctional Practice-Case Management within the first 12 months of employment
  • Registration as a STAP Supervisor or meet the requirements of a STAP Supervisor in line with APHRA
  • Experience in assessment and treatment in correctional psychology including mental health issues, cognitive impairment and with respect to behaviour management
  • Experience in criminogenic risk assessments, including risks related to sex and violent offending
  • Experience working in a Correctional environment delivering in psychological theory & practice and group process, ideally including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Trauma Informed Care (highly desired)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary correctional concepts, principles and practices relevant to psychology assessment and treatments
  • High level ability to recognise and resolve conflict through the management of different behaviours
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
