About our roles
As a driver, you’ll do more than sit behind the wheel. Our drivers are a key part of the crew — you’ll be responsible for driving the collection vehicle safely along your route, but you’ll also work alongside loaders to help with collections when needed. It’s active, physical work and a team effort all the way through.
Key duties:
- Safely operate the refuse or recycling vehicle
- Assist loaders with collections as needed
- Perform vehicle checks and keep paperwork up to date
- Deliver a high standard of customer service to residents
- Wash down your vehicle at the end of the shift
You’ll need:
- A valid LGV/HGV Category C licence
- A Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- A good level of physical fitness
- A strong work ethic and team spirit
- A commitment to safety and doing the job properly
As a loader, you’ll be out in the community each day, collecting household refuse, recycling, or food waste. You’ll work outdoors in all weather, lifting and emptying bins, and making sure collections are carried out efficiently and safely. It’s physical, hands-on work — and you’ll be part of a friendly team that takes pride in the job.
Key duties:
- Collect bins and containers from households and businesses
- Sort and load waste materials into the correct vehicle compartments
- Spot and report contamination or collection issues
- Communicate with residents and support your crew
You’ll need:
- A good level of physical fitness
- A strong work ethic and team spirit
- A commitment to safety and doing the job properly
