This is a specialist role to enable the effective delivery of pensions policy and administration across Serco UK.

In this role, you will work with our SMEs on all aspects of pensions, policy, and strategy in relation to both public sectors defined benefit pension, Group Personal Pension and Life Assurance Scheme matters. Working closely with Pension Manager MyHR, the Group Reward Team and business unit HR Directors for UK&E, you will drive improvements in retirement planning for our colleagues and improve compliance and outcomes in relation to our pension schemes.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Support the provision of pension arrangements that Serco Limited (or other UK entities) participate in, particularly public sector defined benefit schemes and the main Worksave Group Personal Pension arrangement.

  • Working on payroll solutions in relation to pension contributions for new schemes, including reporting and their contribution mechanisms
  • To provide support to the Pension Manager and Group Reward team on pension schemes
  • Assisting in managing our advice to our internal bid teams on potential pension provision for bid requirements, including potential liabilities and some cost modelling based on current membership across similar demographics.
  • Attend regular and ad hoc meetings with pension scheme representatives, such as Governance reviews with Legal & General, training sessions with public sector schemes and on occasion trustee meetings of the Serco Pension & Life Assurance Scheme.
  • Liaise with UK&E contracts and local payroll administrators with the business to advise on pension requirements and the processes they are involved in.
  • Assistance with delivery of all pension-related documentation and communications produced by Serco – as directed by Group Reward or the Pensions Manager.
  • Assist with the training of other team members within Serco FleszibBusiness Services

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • Ideally you will be working in a specialist pension role with a professional qualification relevant to pensions. A continued membership of the professional body would be desirable (APMI or EPMI).

  • Experience of dealing with public sector pension schemes in terms of administration requirements, including monthly submissions, employer portals and End of Year processes.
  • Knowledge of Auto Enrolment requirements and GDPR in relation to pensions
  • Experience with the full Microsoft Suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote
  • Knowledge of Salary Sacrifice, tax relief at source and other net contribution arrangements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – establishing relationships both internally and externally at all levels.
  • Ability to accommodate some travel to contract sites or the offices of external advisors, where appropriate.

What we offer:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Annual leave purchase scheme.
  • Up to 6% contributory pension scheme.
  • Flexible working options.
