Military Leavers and
Reservists
Card text
Your military experience is valued at Serco.
For over 50 years, Serco has proudly worked alongside the UK Armed Forces, providing critical defence support services. This partnership has given us a unique appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who serve — and the incredible contributions veterans bring to businesses and communities.
Today, 39% of our global defence workforce are veterans, and we continue to actively seek out the leadership, discipline, and teamwork skills that make veterans so valued throughout our organisation.
We’re proud to have placed 3rd in the Great British Employers of Veterans rankings! This recognises organisations that go above and beyond to support veterans, reservists, and military families, and it reflects our genuine, ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces community across the UK.

A long-standing commitment to our military community
Serco was one of the first companies to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in 2013 — a public promise to ensure that no member of the Armed Forces community faces disadvantage in accessing public and commercial services.

Valuable partnerships
We collaborate with organisations like the Career Transition Partnership, Forces Transition Group, Forces Families Jobs, and the White Ensign Association to connect resettling personnel and their families to meaningful career opportunities at Serco.
Guaranteed Interview Scheme
UK Armed Forces leavers and veterans can benefit from a guaranteed interview scheme, so those who meet the minimum criteria for a role will be guaranteed the opportunity to demonstrate their skills at an interview.
Support for reservists
We offer up to 12 additional days of paid leave annually to support reservist training commitments, alongside flexibility for deployments.
Community advocacy
Through decades of partnership with the Armed Forces, we’ve seen first-hand the impact veterans can have — not just in business, but in shaping communities for the better.
Your second career starts here
We understand that transitioning to civilian life can feel daunting. That’s why Serco offers more than a job — we provide a community of support and plenty of pathways to help you thrive.

“There are lots of ex-military personnel here, and it creates a great sense of community. Serco has been brilliant. They’ve supported my transition and growth every step of the way.”
Being a reservist at Serco
With strengths like team building, communication, problem-solving and resilience, your experience as a reservist brings invaluable skills that enrich our team. These soft skills go beyond technical expertise, fostering stronger collaboration and more cohesive teams. Supporting reservists isn’t just a commitment to national defence — it’s an investment in business success and personal development.
To make your journey seamless, we offer additional paid leave for annual training and ensure a smooth process for mobilisation and return to work. Whether you're already serving or considering becoming a reservist, we’re here to support you in balancing your commitments and thriving in your career.
