Permanent (Full-Time, 40 Hrs) 

Salary - £24,068.10 per annum plus Serco benefits.

 

 

As part of the Government’s investment in creating thousands of modern and innovative prison places with a view to truly rehabilitating prisoners, our Justice & Immigration business was chosen to be the first operator of HMP and YOI Fosse Way, a brand-new resettlement prison in Leicester that opened in mid-2023.  As with all our custodial estate, Serco provides a secure, safe, and decent environment aimed at reducing re-offending, and at HMP Fosse Way, we will be caring for and working with around 1,700 prisoners.

At Fosse Way, we prioritise professionalism, security, and excellence in service. As a vital part of our team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.

 

Main accountabilities

 

  • Manage the entrance lobby of Fosse Way, ensuring all visitors are appropriately booked in and inquiries are handled promptly.
  • Provide a professional front of house service, adhering to security protocols and treating all visitors with respect.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all incoming visitors, addressing their needs efficiently and professionally.
  • Verify the identification of all visitors before granting access, ensuring compliance with security procedures.
  • Maintain a presentable reception area at all times, upholding our standards of professionalism.
  • Secure all items in the reception area and handle prisoner property according to established protocols.
  • Handle telephone inquiries in a timely and courteous manner, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Be approachable and capable of assuming responsibility, maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations in handling visitor information.

 

What you will need to do the role

 

  • You will need previous experience working as a receptionist or a similar face to face role.
  • You must have strong people skills and excellent IT capabilities.
  • You will need Office 365 application experience.
  • You will need to be able to deal with difficult conversation and conflict resolutions, this requires a combination of empathy, clear communication, and a structured approach.
  • You may also need to be available outside of normal office hours.
