Are you passionate about providing spiritual and pastoral care? Do you have a calling to support and guide individuals through their faith journey? Serco is looking for an Anglican Chaplain to join our dedicated Multi-Faith team at HMP Thameside.
About HMP Thameside
HMP Thameside is a Category B resettlement prison, located in Thamesmead, South-East London, next to HMP Belmarsh. As London’s only private prison, it houses up to 1,232 male prisoners, both convicted and on remand. Built in 2012, it is a modern, purpose-built facility designed to provide a safe, structured environment where individuals can access the support and resources they need to rehabilitate and reintegrate into society.
Your Role as an Anglican Chaplain
As an Anglican Chaplain, you’ll play a vital role in delivering worship, providing spiritual guidance, and offering pastoral care to both prisoners and staff. You'll have the unique opportunity to bring hope, faith, and encouragement to those who need it most, ensuring everyone—regardless of their beliefs—feels supported on their journey.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead worship, prayer, and religious programmes.
- Provide pastoral care to prisoners, staff, and their families.
- Support individuals in times of crisis.
- Organise and distribute religious materials.
- Mentor and guide other chaplains and volunteers.
- Play a key role in Faith Awareness Training for staff.
What You Need to Succeed:
- At least 3 years of experience delivering Anglican faith services.
- Strong understanding of Anglican theology and religious practice.
- A recognised theological qualification.
- Formal endorsement from the Diocesan Bishop and HMPPS Anglican Faith Adviser.
- Up-to-date safeguarding training and DBS clearance.
