Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.

Serco have an exciting new role as a Project Manager. The role requires a thorough understanding of the wider FM landscape, this will be a challenging role and requires an individual with the experience of managing projects from inception to completion, with values ranging from £1k to £5M.

 

Main Accountabilities:

  • Work with the customer to gain a clear understanding of their business requirements and identify solutions to meet these needs ensuring that they are captured as an agreed statement of requirements.
  • The management of PPM and reactive work for subcontractor activities, the management and co-ordination of sub-contractors for service variation delivery and asset replacement projects, as well as supporting existing Project Managers with the delivery of more complex capital projects.
  • Ensure CAFM Explorer system is updated in a timely manner to show PPM when complete and remedial jobs raised if required. Proactively manage all reactive tasks in CAFM. Ensure proactive management of asset data in CAFM following asset removal or replacement.
  • Ensure Service Variations systems are updated with accurate information regarding project costs, programme and status, and that all supporting documentation is uploaded.
  • Be accountable for the correct management and filing of all project/works documentation, using existing systems such as SharePoint, CAFM and the Technical Library.
  • Manage the delivery of works/projects from feasibility through to post-occupancy following the RIBA Plan of Works and Serco’s formal project management processes, including project governance and change control.
  • Ensure works/projects are delivered in line with MOD processes, and meet all current building and MOD standards, obtaining relevant approvals where necessary, whilst meeting Serco’s requirements for buildability and maintenance requirements.
  • Carry out quality audits on site whilst contractors are working, and ensure contractors are working safely and within their risk assessments and method statements. Carry out regular site inspections and take accountability of H&S matters in relation to all works delivery.

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • A ONC/HNC/HND Building Services Engineering in either Mechanical, Electrical or Building Engineering.
  • Project Management skills and working knowledge of Building Engineering Services projects with a Contractor.
  • Management level qualification in H&S and Environment (e.g. SMSTS)
  • Developed IT skills (e.g. Excel, Word, CAFM, Teams, Sharepoint etc.)
  • A proven track record in leading large complex Projects with Strong Management and Leadership skills
  • Experience of leading procurement supply chain reviews
  • Experience of delivering space utilisation estates development plans (Desirable)
  • Experience of property standards (British Standards, SFG20, BSRIA etc.) (Desirable)
