Location: Hybrid – Solihull - 2 days per week in office
Full Time, Permanent
Salary between £34,000 - £39,000 plus benefits (depending on experience)
Here at Serco, we’re seeking an experienced Employee Relations Case Manager to join our wider team of specialists, offering professional advice and support to approximately 3,000 people managers across our UK operations. In this role, you will provide comprehensive employee relations guidance and support to Serco People Managers, addressing all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including disciplinary actions, grievances, absences, maternity/paternity issues, restructures, and performance management. You will manage multiple ER cases from beginning to resolution, delivering clear, risk-based advice to managers throughout the process.

As part of this you’ll:
- Work in partnership with the business to provide strong professional HR advice and support strategic HR decisions at all levels of the organisation.
- Provide a proactive and/or “on demand” advisory and consultancy service to people managers on a range of human resource issues, employee life cycle procedures and policies consistent with employee standards, legislation, and guidelines.
- Manage end-to-end and timely closure of employee relations cases (disciplinary, absence, grievance, absence management, restructures, etc.).
- Be a point of escalation for ER Advisors for more complex queries and provide day to day coaching as required.
- Analyse people related metrics, data, and trends to make recommendations to Business Partners, and interventions with people managers to address identified people issues across the business.
- Liaise with external agencies/ functions such as legal and local union representatives regarding the people issues related to procedures and policies and ensure that people managers work within the defined policy & procedures.
- Provide support in the delivery of people management training, coaching and upskilling managers throughout ER processes.
- Coordination and management of redundancy consultations, ensuring thorough support is provided from beginning to resolution.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Creative ‘can-do’ attitude, proven negotiation skills with confidence in relationship management at all levels.
- Customer and delivery focused, with the ability to make decisions and manage risks.
- Up to date understanding and application of employment law and HR best practice.
- A recognised HR qualification (CIPD or equivalent) is preferred.
- Excellent generalist/operational HR experience at Senior HR advisor, HR Business Partner level or equivalent.
- Proven experience in managing complex ER cases, including redundancies, restructures, disciplinary and grievance cases, and complex case management ideally as a HR Advisor, Generalist or equivalent.
- Confidence in coaching and mentoring People Managers.
- Ability to work in a faced paced environment.
