Serco has a vacancy for a Refuel driver working in support of the Aircraft Engineering Support & Airfield Services contract based at RNAS Culdrose. As a Refuel Driver, you will be required to support operational deliverables and interfaces in a highly regulated aviation environment.
Main Accountabilities:
- Driving and operating specialist HGV Class 2 vehicles for the refuelling and defuelling of military and civilian aircraft.
- Driving on Airfields and on Public Highways.
- Supporting detached flying operations.
- Be part of an on-call roster for essential out of hours cover.
- Work a shift routine.
- Conduct unit level Quality Assurance testing of aviation fuels held in bulk and mobile stowage.
- Operate Bulk Fuel Installations.
- Fuel accounting.
- Maintaining Helicopter In Flight Refuelling (HIFR) hoses.
- Servicing aircraft refuelling vehicles and fuel related equipment.
- Maintaining currencies and training requirements applicable to the role.
- Ensuring that all contracted tasks are carried out in accordance with current Customer Policies and Regulations and other applicable statutory Regulations.
- Complying with the Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) Act 1974.
- Monitoring hazards and ensuring risks, and issues are identified and quantified to their Senior Supervisor or Serco Support Manager.
- Conducting other tasks within their capability as directed by the Refuel Senior Supervisor or Serco Support Manager.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Hold a Category C / HGV Class 2 driving licence.
- Hold an ADR vocational training certificate for drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods, Minimum Class 3 (Flammable liquids) in tanks.
- Hold a driver qualification card (driver CPC) and any qualifying hours towards periodic driver CPC training.
- Proof of colour perception test pass (from an opticians) to enable the issue of an Airfield Driving Permit.
- Have previous experience refuelling aircraft or working within an aviation environment (Desirable)
The successful candidate will work a shift routine that covers day and night flying operations and be part of a call out roster to meet out of hours urgent operational fuelling requirements. A pre-requisite will be a completely flexible approach to working at Culdrose in pursuance of the company’s task.
