Serco are recruiting for a Business Support Manager to join the team based at RNAS Culdrose in Helston. This role will be responsible for the effective delivery and overall management of the Serco Business Support functions and services across Royal Navy Support portfolio across RNAS Culdrose and RNAS Yeovilton and the management of the Serco Support Services staff who deliver these activities.

 

Main Accountabilities:

 

  • Responsible to the Deputy Contract Manager/AESAS Support Manager to provide business support services to the contract, by leading on contract HR activities (absence management, appraisals, disciplinaries, investigations, workforce leave management, recruitment/succession/contingency planning, and communications champion).
  • Ensuring financial services (payroll, invoicing, and procurement) activities are conducted and overseen, and support commercial organic growth opportunities, and lead on continuous improvement activities to identify cost control efficiencies and improve margin and revenue.
  • Provide business operational support leading on business continuity, operational risk, contract performance measurement and reporting, contract improvement plans, management information, GDPR Champion, and security focus.
  • Manage the Serco Business Support Services teams and staff who deliver the contracted support services and associated activities by:
  • Liaising with the customer where Serco staff are working in a blended workforce under customer control. 
  • Conduct performance appraisals, mentoring and personal development to ensure the delivery of an effective, efficient, “right first time every time” output to the customer.
  • Ensuring that appropriate continuation training, including, and ensuring a comprehensive record of all Serco essential training and experience, is maintained.
  • Developing personnel under their control, to ensure they have an effective working knowledge of their working procedures, including the SMS, appropriate MoD policy and local Serco and customer processes and procedures.
  • Deliver Continuous Improvement to ensure that teams under their control drive for effectiveness, efficiency and improvements in the output and working environment.
  • Deputise for the IMOS and AESAS Support Managers as required.
  • Performing other reasonable and relevant Serco tasks across the RN Portfolio as directed by the Deputy Contract Manager/AESAS Support Manager. 

 

What you’ll need to do the role:

 

  • Able to hold SC clearance and Airfield Driving permit.
  • Hold an appropriate management or business qualification, or alternative previous managerial experience in a similar role or working environment.
  • Must have relevant knowledge, background and satisfactory experience related to business support management and demonstrate an effective working knowledge of management processes.
  • The ability to successfully implement and apply MoD legislation, Serco and RN and Leonardo processes and procedures.
  • Experience in management, leadership, and decision-making experience in a military or civil environment.
  • Experience and proven competence in business management services; people management, HR services and procedures, finances / procurement / payroll services, operational support; business continuity, operational risk, contract performance, management information, data protection and security.
  • Proven IT, MOS, Word / Excel / Database / finance package experience.
