Serco have an exciting opportunity to join the maritime team in our out of port operation as an Electro-Technical Officer (ETO). 

 

As the ETO, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment, installations and machinery (including but not limited to DP system, radio communications, bridge navigational systems, domestic/hotel electrics and internal/external telecommunications systems).


Reporting to the Vessel Master (whilst on board), you will have regular contact with crew, Technical Superintendent and other important stakeholders.

 


Main Accountabilities:

 

  • Ensure that all electrical plant, vessel communications equipment and associated systems are properly operated and maintained iaw applicable regulations/company standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate electrical repairs performed on board.
  • Regularly report to the Master/Chief Engineer the state of the electrical plant/equipment on board.
  • Be familiar with safety routines and ensure necessary safeguards are in place before any maintenance/repair work commences.
  • Fully conversant with company Safety Management System - specifically:
  • Vessel Operating Procedures (Including risk assessments)
  • Permit to Work/Tag Out Systems
  • Shipboard Management Team
  • Shipboard Safety Committee

 


What you’ll need to do the role:

 

  • ETO Certificate of Competence
  • SDP Maintenance Course (preferred)
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (5 Year Refresher Course)
  • STCW Elementary First Aid
  • Unrestricted ENG1
  • Passport
  • Methodical in approach
  • Good standard of education

  • Security Clearance (must be able to obtain)
