HMP & YOI Doncaster
Full Time, Permanent (40 hours)

£27,000 - £36,000 per annum

HMP Doncaster is a Category B local prison that holds male offenders and operates within a dynamic, challenging environment. The prison’s focus is on rehabilitation and reducing reoffending, with a commitment to offering offenders the support, guidance, and skills they need to successfully reintegrate into society. As part of the Offender Management Unit (OMU), you will play a key role in supporting this mission, working alongside a dedicated team to help offenders achieve their goals and reduce their risk to the public.

As a Prison Offender Manager (POM), you will manage a caseload of offenders in either a responsible, supporting, or co-working role, focusing on offenders at low, medium, and high-risk levels. You will play a central part in the offender’s rehabilitation journey, forming trusting working relationships, helping offenders consolidate learning from their interventions, and preparing them for reintegration into the community. You will work closely with probation officers, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure that offenders receive the support they need to reduce the likelihood of reoffending. Additionally, you will be responsible for completing assessments, preparing reports, and supporting offenders in achieving their sentence plan goals. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders, while also advancing your career in the justice sector.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage a caseload of offenders across low, medium, and high-risk categories, providing tailored support and guidance.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with offenders, motivating them to achieve their sentence plan goals.
  • Conduct one-to-one sessions, complete risk assessments, and prepare offenders for participation in interventions.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and probation officers to develop effective rehabilitation strategies.
  • Complete high-quality OASys assessments, reports, and risk management plans within required timescales.
  • Contribute to parole hearings and interdepartmental risk management meetings.
  • Support the maintenance of family ties and help offenders develop positive relationships.

What you’ll need:

  • Excellent administration and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and liaise with external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with vulnerable groups, or an understanding of Offender Management Unit operations would be desirable.

What we offer:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Annual leave purchase scheme.
  • Up to 6% contributory pension scheme
  • A Serco benefits portal offering a wide range of discounts for major high street brands in Retail, Leisure & Hospitality.
  • A range of benefits to support the health and wellbeing of you and your family such as Employee Assistance Programme, Health Cash Plans, free flu jabs and more.
  • A wealth of career development training to suit your future aspirations. These range from role specific training, leadership coaching, formal study and much more to support you to build your career with Serco.
  • A safe and supportive culture.
  • A company passionate about diversity and inclusion.
