As a Senior Engineer in our Serco Rail Technical Services team, you’ll play a key role in driving the growth of our technical consultancy services within the railway industry. 

 

You’ll lead innovative projects, develop strong client relationships, and support the professional development of colleagues, all while ensuring high-quality service delivery and business success.

 


You’ll be entrusted to:
•    Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand Serco’s technical consultancy services.
•    Manage and deliver engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline targets.
•    Foster innovation by developing new tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance service offerings.
•    Engage with key stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and industry partners, to strengthen relationships and drive business growth.
•    Support bids and proposals to secure future work and maintain Serco’s competitive position.
•    Mentor and coach junior colleagues, reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback to support their development.

 


Does this sound like you?
 

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
•    A BSc or MSc in Engineering (Chartered Engineer status or working towards is desirable).
•    A strong track record of delivering engineering projects on time and within budget.
•    Extensive knowledge of rolling stock systems, industry standards, and certification processes.
•    Excellent technical writing and communication skills, demonstrated through report production.
•    A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
