Your Opportunity  

We are currently bidding for a new prestigious Facilities Management project in Abu Dhabi, UAE and we are looking for a Night Shift Engineer who will take leadership responsibility for the Facilities Maintenance Team; HVAC, Electrical, ELV, General Trades and Mechanical. The primary accountability is to ensure that shift planned, reactive and corrective maintenance, repairs and projects are undertaken in a safe manner, that the contract Key Performance Indicators are met and that all reports and documentation that underpin the service are kept up to date. Maintain communications with the Stores, Helpdesk, CMMS and BMS teams.

 

The ideal candidate should be self-reliant, resourceful and diplomatic. Able to foster good relations with colleagues and other departments and be a good team player.

 

The hiring for this role is subject to contract award.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of resources required to deliver building services engineering services including specialist service delivery partners

  • Will have input into the development of the maintenance procedures and protocols including method statements and appropriate HSEQ requirements

  • Where required, will also act as the approved/authorized person for conducting risk assessment and signing off method statements and Permits to Work

  • Provide technical support for all building services equipment on the contract

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures and protocols for building services planned and reactive maintenance (including, Risk Assessments, Permit to Work System, Lock Out Tag Out, and Emergency Procedures)

  • Support the maintenance activities by providing specialist engineering knowledge and advice, associated with the full range of building services electrical and mechanical equipment interface and control

  • Undertake Competent Person (AP) duties for Building Services systems

  • Prepare and provide shift reports in a timely manner and handover to the next Night Shift Supervisor

  • Work as a collective team involving all technical staff in the work to be undertaken obtaining feedback and ideas as required to ensure that all personnel work safely and efficiently

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise in-house staff and specialist service contractors utilised to provide the planned and reactive services as detailed in the contract to ensure that SLA’s and KPI’s are adhered to

  • Coordinate with external parties regarding the Utility Supplies as required

  • Engage and provide input into the development of the annual and 5 Year Asset Maintenance Plans, Energy Management Plans and the Condition Survey

  • Provide quality analysis and comment technically upon maintenance feedback from both in-house and specialist service partners and provide written reports and corrective actions as required including recommended training as required to enhance the efficiency of technical personnel

  • Maintain good and harmonious relationships with all staff and visitors and respond to any complaints promptly

  • All work is to be performed as per HSEQ regulations and requirements

  • Worked with other managers and supervisors to develop and deliver a training matrix of basic maintenance skills to support the development of technicians into multi-skilled technicians

  • Ensure delivery and attendance of all staff of regular tool box talks

  • Ensure employee issues and attendance records are dealt with in an appropriate manner

  • Ensure the on-going competence of all team members and arrange any training that may be required to ensure up-skilling and continuous development of staff capability

  • Comply with all Serco SMS Policies and Standard Operating Procedures and all local regional or contract related policies and procedures.

 

Specific Requirements

  • Seven (7) plus years of experience in working as an engineer in a building services engineering department within a facilities management organisation for a hospital or healthcare facility / campus

  • Three (3) plus years of supervisory experience with the ability to manage maintenance teams

  • Technically competent with a clear knowledge and experience of building services system, life safety and buildings controls systems

  • Skilled manager in communicating, motivating, developing and performance managing staff

  • Must hold a degree in building services High Voltage Electrical, Low Voltage Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or recognized trade qualifications in building services maintenance or a high level of equivalent experience in a previous post

  • Must hold a valid UAE Driving License

  • PC skills operating MS Office programs

  • Ability to use AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project an advantage
