Your Opportunity
We are currently bidding for a new prestigious Facilities Management project in Abu Dhabi, UAE and we are looking for a Mechanical Shift Engineer who will be responsible for the facilities maintenance team and will be assigned to manage and support teams of Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Technicians. Accountable to ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks, reactive & corrective maintenance works are delivered to meet the contract Key Performance Indicators, compliance, and statutory obligations and that all reports and documentation that underpin the services are kept up to date.
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, flexibility, excellent attention to detail and ability to identify key issues. Able to work under stringent deadlines in a high-pressure environment, and manage priorities.
The hiring for this role is subject to contract award.
Key Accountabilities

Take a lead for the development of risk assessments and Method Statements to ensure all tasks are carried out safely so as not to harm people, equipment or property.

Provide a focus for the development and monitoring of policies, procedures and protocols for mechanical equipment maintenance and repair services (including Permit to Work System and Emergency Procedures).

Be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all planned and reactive tasks in accordance with the Service Level Specification requirements.

Work closely with client representatives to develop project delivery plans, including contingency planning, determining dependencies and stakeholder engagement / management.

Provide technical leadership and support to the supervisors and technicians on all mechanical engineering systems including circulatory pumps, hot and cold water distribution systems, plumbing fittings & fixtures, water features, water treatment systems and associated equipment and control systems.

Prepare and provide daily and monthly management reports and shift handover reports in a timely manner.

In conjunction with Procurement, assist in providing scope of work and provide support for the selection of Specialist Service Partners.

Plan, coordinate and supervise in house staff, consultants and specialist service contractors providing inspection of works to ensure quality of service delivery. Report all shortfalls.

Integrate and communicate effectively with mechanical engineering technical staff and other technical staff (Electrical, HVAC, ELV and General Trades) as required to complete all mechanical services works.

Support the Maintenance activities of the technicians by providing specialist mechanical engineering knowledge and advice, associated with the full range of mechanical engineering building services equipment.

Preparation of competency assessment and issuing of standing Instructions.

Maintain good and harmonious relationships with technicians, clients and visitors and respond to any complaints promptly. Identify any necessary steps to prevent inconvenience to tenants. Any issues are to be reported to the Helpdesk and any onward processing to the Serco management.

Develop and deliver a training matrix of the full range of Mechanical skills to support the development of Mechanical Technicians and also for other trade personnel to train into multi-skilled Technicians.
Specific Requirements

Seven (7) plus years of experience with advance knowledge in mechanical building services with secondary knowledge of electrical equipment and power systems.

Three (3) years minimum supervisory experience with the ability to manage maintenance teams

Experience in mechanical building services equipment and associated systems and controls

Experience in working in a major tertiary hospital or healthcare facility/campus
-
Ideally a holder of Degree in Mechanical Engineering or at least a mechanical or building services Diploma.

Proficient in Microsoft packages including word, excel and PowerPoint. Adaptable to use company systems as required to the operations

Ability to use AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project will be an advantage
