Your Opportunity  

We are currently bidding for a new prestigious Facilities Management project in Abu Dhabi, UAE and we are looking for an ELV Shift Engineer who will provide day-to-day management of the ELV department directing the various department teams of engineers, supervisors and technicians to ensure the operation, PPM and reactive works are carried out effectively and efficiently utilizing approved processes and procedures. Provides assistance to the Project Management of capital works and projects and development of the in-house maintenance capability. The role holder will maintain and continually review and improve the on-site service delivery and ensure that the required technical and safety training is carried out by the training managers to improve safety and capability

 

The ideal candidate should be able to develop good relations with colleagues and be a good team player. Someone who has flexibility, excellent attention to detail, ability to identify key issues and manage an environment if regular change.

 

The hiring for this position is subject to contract award.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Take a lead for the development of risk assessments and Method Statements to ensure all tasks are carried out safely so as not to harm people, equipment or property

  • Provide a focus for the development and monitoring of policies, procedures and protocols for ELV equipment maintenance and repair services (including Permit to Work System and Emergency Procedures)

  • Be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all planned and reactive tasks in accordance with the Service Level Specification requirements

  • Work closely with client representatives to develop project delivery plans, including contingency planning, determining dependencies and stakeholder engagement / management

  • Provide technical leadership and support to the supervisors and technicians on all ELV engineering systems and responsible for the ELV and Fire Alarm systems including oversight and supervision of the Fire Alarm, BMS and BIS specialist subcontractors and on-site building practises

  • Requires a broad and excellent knowledge of precedents in the electrical field and a solid knowledge of principles and practices of related electrical technical areas such as MV/LV and ELV systems including BMS, lighting control, IPS, UPS, fire detection and suppression systems. · Assumes the lead engineer’s role on all electrical critical issues regarding the service delivery and any problems to be resolved.

  • Serves as the Approved Person for all aspects of Permit to Work and signatory for method statements and acts as the Heal of the ELV Systems and as the designated electrical client contract.

  • Ensures proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication among the staff and with other service providers.

  • Provides the lead in analysing report, mapping, maintenance, repair, testing, RCM and any other data to plan and assign work and achieve an efficient and effective workforce for the continued delivery of services to the client.

  • Initiates requests/bid sheets for material quotations for replacement of components, provides associated specifications for such components and submits for client’s approval.

  • Integrate and communicate effectively with ELV engineering technical staff and other technical staff (Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical and General Trades) as required to complete all ELV services works 

  • Support the Maintenance activities of the technicians by providing specialist ELV engineering knowledge and advice, associated with the full range of ELV engineering building services equipment

  • Preparation of competency assessment and issuing of standing Instructions

  • Maintain good and harmonious relationships with technicians, clients and visitors and respond to any complaints promptly. Identify any necessary steps to prevent inconvenience to tenants. Any issues are to be reported to the Helpdesk and any onward processing to the Serco management

  • Develop and deliver a training matrix of the full range of ELV skills to support the development of ELV Technicians and also for other trade personnel to train into multi-skilled Technicians

 

Specific Requirements

  • Seven (7) plus years of experience with advance knowledge in ELV building services with secondary knowledge of electrical equipment and power systems.

  • Three (3) years minimum supervisory experience with the ability to manage maintenance teams

  • Experience in ELV building services equipment and associated systems and controls

  • Experience in working in a major tertiary hospital or healthcare facility/campus

  • The contract places a strong emphasis on managing performance and quality across service delivery in an environment requiring strategic stakeholder engagement. It also places a significant requirement to manage a large team of technicians and subcontractors. Strong communication skills are critical.

  • Ideally a holder of Degree in Electrical Engineering or at least an electrical or building services Diploma.
