IT Business Partner
Glasgow, Hybrid
£50,000- £55,000 per annum plus benefits
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as a Business Partner. This role will bridge the gap between IT and the business operations within Caledonian Sleeper. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen and communication skills to gather business needs and translate them into an effective solution.
Reporting directly to the Head of IT, the IT Business Partner will be part of a small well-rounded team that collaborates effectively with all areas of the business to help support their IT requirements, ensure effective use of systems, and help alleviate any pain points. Working with the IT operations specialists, managed service providers and key stakeholders to deliver change.
Main Accountabilities:
Business Support
- Serve as the bridge between IT and the business aligning technology with the business goals.
- Serve as the point of contact for resolving operational challenges and business process issues.
- Proactively evaluate business operations to identify opportunities for improvement and increase efficiencies.
- Provide support to end-users to enhance adoption of new systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including user guides, process manuals, and FAQs.
- Collaborate with IT and support teams to ensure seamless operation of business systems.
Business Analysis
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Identify gaps in current processes and propose efficient, scalable solutions.
- Develop detailed process maps, business cases, and impact assessments.
- Translate business needs into functional and non-functional specifications for technical teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define deliverables.
Project Lead
- Act as IT Project Lead for small-scale IT projects/initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timelines, across multiple initiatives
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, risk logs, and status reports.
- Coordinate internal cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure alignment and successful execution of project deliverables.
- Monitor and report on project progress to stakeholders and senior management.
- Manage change requests, ensuring minimal disruption to project outcomes.
Innovation and continuous improvement
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
What you’ll need to do the role:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Business Partner, Business Analyst, Project Manager, in a similar hybrid role.
Technical Skills
- Strong Knowledge in IT systems and Infrastructure.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello).
- Familiarity with process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Lucid chart).
- Experience working in Agile and Waterfall environments.
- Knowledge of business systems such as Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, or workflow automation tools.
- Understanding of data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI).
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA).
- Experience with ITIL framework and service management practices.
